WINEMAKER : Jorge Riccitelli

REGION : Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza

GRAPE : Merlot 100%

VINTAGE : 2021

ABV : 14.5%

Perdriel is the original vineyard for the world famous Bodega Norton and there’s history and skill here. It’s cold and wet this time of year so our selection of reds, we decided, must be heartier and warming. It’s a rich, intense, New World merlot with an intense colour, full bodied and starts with a tonne of ripe black fruit aromas and a touch of spice. To taste, it’s well balanced with blackberry, plum and sumptuous chocolate and long, long finish. There’s some creamy oak in there too. It’s rich and everything you would hope from a quality merlot at Christmas. It’s a go to for the deeper, darker, richer dishes. Anything mutton! Anything beef! The dark fruits will really blossom against the heat and richness of the sauce.

WINERY & PRODUCTION

If you weren’t familiar with Bodega Norton, you may well still recognise the name Riccitelli. Matias Riccitelli is a fantastic producer in his own right in Mendoza and we love his wines dearly. Jorge is his Dad. Perdriel was the original vineyard for Bodega Norton and has seen over a hundred years of continuous use over 100 hectares 950m above sea level. The vines are all aged between 30 and 50 years old and the terroir in Lujan de Cuyo produced fantastic concentrated wines with power!
