Always a solid bet at Opheem and has maintained its place on our ever changing list for many years. It’s verstalie, fresh but with layers of subtle complexity.Strong personality, the winemaker has always focused on being able to represent the great Breedekloof region in the Western Cape with a white Rhone style. It’s well layered with strong fruit, peach and citrus flavours and a floral, light herb nose. Think rosemary and thyme. The texture is creamy and rich but refreshing rather than oaky and a low acidity. It works as a great all-rounder. Start your meal, light fish and chicken but also with big fruitier dishes too. Our Kadela curry or Kashiphal Ki Subji would be great partners.

WINERY & PRODUCTION
Elizma spent a great deal of time working in the great wine regions of the world before returning to her home in South Africa 10 years ago to join Olifantsberg. Winning Young Winemaker of the Year in 2021 (the first female to do so, incidentally), her craft is built on passion for wine and to let the terroir do the talking. This Roussanne Blend (56% Roussanne, 35% Grenache Blanc, 9% Chenin Blanc) is made from grapes undergoing whole bunch pressing before natural fermentation in season French oak that results in its layers of complexity.
