WINEMAKER :  Pierpaolo Sirch

REGION : Campania

GRAPE : Falanghina 100%

VINTAGE : 2021

ABV : 13%

An exceptional wine that has proven a fantastic addition to the menu for the last 4 years! Always a solid bet and ridiculous value for money. Offering a balance of delicate white flowers with subtle tropical notes and a bit of banana skin on the nose. It’s dry with a vibrant palate that’s lasts with a soft texture, kind minerality and hints of orange peel and peach melba. Finishing strong with a mouthwatering, slightly saline and flinty finish. From a great producer who has carved a reputation over a relatively short period of time producing world class examples celebrating the grapes of Southern Italy. Great expression of Falanghina that is allegedly based on a Falerno wine that was enjoyed in the times of the Roman Empire. It’s confident, charismatic and a showcase of the region. Pairing wise, we’re going juice seafood dishes and its personality sits will next to juicier, fattier dishes and tandoori spicing gets interesting results.

WINERY & PRODUCTION

Feudi di San Gregorio are based around the beautiful slopes around Sorbo Serpico with volcanic, sandstone soil. Passionate producers who began in the mid 1980’s with key tennet of celebrating grapes from the region and reigniting the Southern Italian wine scene as well as the local community. Since have won awards galore and we can’t remember a wine from them we haven’t loved. Each vineyard is actually monitored by a meteorological station and the cellar is absolutely state of the art For this wine, it’s fermented in stainless steel and rested for 5 to 6 months on its 5 leaves while undergoing regular battonage to give extra complexity too.
